Pip review, Good news bad news was created by blueshouter
Firstly thanks as always for the valuable help and information from everyone on this site, it's much appreciated
I had review forms sent in Feb 2021, assessment early August and award notice received this week
Good news is I have kept enhanced mobility and for the first time have been awarded standard daily living
Bad news is I have gone from a previous award of 4 years to a ridiculous award of 18 months when obviously they agree my needs have got worse, I'm in my late 50s and all my illnesses are degenerative and I had medical evidence to back this up
So question is I would like to put a MR in disputing the award length only, I dont want the rest of the award looking at
Could someone possibly advise me how to word this without the threat of the DWP looking at the whole award again
I have looked through the member resources and cant find a link to disputing an award on length only
Once again thanks everyone and take care

Hi blueshouter
You can tell them you are satisfied with the award and you are only disputing the length of the award. Point out to them that if you have been awarded 18 months there is a good chance you will receive the review form a year before the end date which means it will only have been in place for 8 months which is ridiculous if you have a long term condition. (Don't use the word ridiculous - that's me!). They will look at your award - they have to - to understand the decision and why they have only awarded you 18months, but I wouldn't expect it to change.

Hi Blueshouter
You can either write your own letter or you can use the form for it. There isn't any template just to challenge the length of the award - just put in why you're disputing it. I have copied what it says in our guide below
Asking for a mandatory reconsideration
Once you have decided that you want to challenge the decision, you must ask the DWP to
reconsider the decision. This is called a ‘mandatory reconsideration’. You can ask for a
mandatory reconsideration by phone or in writing to the number or address on the top of the decision letter. If you prefer you can use form CRMR1. www.gov.uk/government/publications/chall...ork-and-pensions-dwp
The only time we would advise you to phone is if your letter might otherwise arrive too late for the strict one-month deadline and, if you do make your request by phone, follow this up with a letter confirming your phone call.

Hi Blueshouter,
Snap!
The same has happened to me. From a 3 year award to an 18 month one. The only difference is that this is the assessors report not the actual decision.
The wording is to the effect that they have recommended a review time of 18 months because my medication is stronger than my previous award.
I really don't know what to think or what to do it just doesn't make sense, does it?
Anyway, good luck with your MR and let us know how you get on.
As for me I'll put in a strong word to the DM and hope they change their mind otherwise, I don't know and to be honest at this moment in time am past caring for now.
Regards,
Phrank.

Hi blueshouter, you post is the second such one I have read in a very few minutes. This just serves to justify my reply to the other one: I believe very short awards are a ploy increasingly resorted to by a desperate DWP trying to cut the spend [to satisfy political masters?]. They can't now easily slash the level of awards of the many who got the previous one at Tribunal. But the length is where they can 'get you'. If they do it to our daughter again next time I hope I will have the energy to take an MR just over the length if necessary.
Best wishes,
Denby
