ESA SUPPORT GROUP was created by rubyjayden
Hi
Sorry to ask this question I have searched this and it states no further Fit Notes are required once you have been assessed, yet my husband has had a letter saying they require a further Fit Note?
he was placed in the Support Group CB in July he applied for New Style ESA, is this still the same? (No Fit Notes are required) would appreciate your comments on this. He sent one just in case another fit note, just wondering in case he gets another letter when this Fit Note runs out.
Thankyou

Hi louisey
Your post has a mixed message 'he was placed in the Support Group CB in July he applied for New Style ESA'. the reason why I say mixed message, you say he was placed in the support group, to me this is legacy benefit and then you say in July he applied for New Style ESA.
Looking at the Disability Rights Handbook ed 46, page 68, it states: It is important to keep your fit notes up to date; ask your doctor for a new fit note well before the old one runs out. If you are not covered by a fit note for each day of your claim, benefit could be withheld. Until you are assessed as having a limited capability for work, you must carry on sending in fit notes. The DWP will let you know if this is no longer required.
It may be because your husband applied for NS ESA, which is why DWP want a fit note. You can always contact DWP and ask.

Hi Gary
Thankyou for your post, sorry if my message seemed mixed he applied for New Style ESA back in December 2020 and was assessed in May, he was placed in the support group in early July 21, they then asked for a further sick note in August 21 (after he had been assessed as being in the SG of esa) we wrote to the DWP they responded by text today stating no further sick notes are required and payment will continue. Thanks for your response. ( Another DWP error they obviously should have not sent a letter requesting a further sick because he had already been assessed and placed in the SG of ESA).
Thank you once again and take care

I wrote amessage in my jounal to the work coach and they sorted it. My assumption is it was an automated letter and a computer error, sounds like may have been similar witth you
