Recorded or Special Delivery?. was created by George
I have just about finished the Award Review in regard to my wife's PIP claim. Was going to send it recorded delivery as I did with her original PIP award two years ago but on looking at the Royal Mail site I see they also do a Special Delivery service which guarantees next day delivery by either 9am or 1pm. It costs a little bit more than recorded delivery but I don't mind that if I am certain it will be delivered on time. Has anyone used either of these services before and which would be the best?.

Hi George

The choice is really yours depending on time limits.

I have never sent a form by special recorded delivery. I always send anything to the DWP by recorded delivery as it usually gets there with two days at the most, although I have had a few go missing. I always check the RD details on Royal Mail web site.

Lets open the question up to forum members as to their preferred choice and why?

I always use standard recorded. There was talk a while ago about no-one signing for mail anymore which worried me but the delivery person signed my last one instead

I always use Special Delivery - you get a timed and dated receipt of postage and a visual copy of a timed and dated signature of receipt at the destination.

Hi George

I always use guaranteed next day delivery. It is around £7 or so - and is usually signed for the next day - normally very early morning between 5am and 6am. Not cheap, I know, but in my mind if you can afford it, go for it.

I hope this helps,

Regards,

Phrank.

I used Special Delivery last week, my husband took the forms to our post office and decided as it would arrive next day he used that service.
It arrived next day , we have printed off the delivery receipt…
