PIP renewal after extension - how long? was created by amandajane
Hi all My PIP was extended from end of Jan 2022 to end of June 2022 due to COVID, I was wondering when I might hear about re-assessment, because I am planning to get a letter from my GP, pain specialist and orthopaedic specialist.
I know the system is all over the place at the moment, but wondered if anyone else is in the same timeframe as me.
Thanks to all.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi amandajane,
There are quite serious delays at present so it could be a long wait. I suggest that you start getting medical reports now, as these can sometimes take a while to obtain. You might even be lucky and get dealt with quicker which can occasionally happen!
Also, DWP will take more notice of medical information as close to the date of claim as possible. (That’s not to say that older/newer medical evidence won't be relevant, particularly if it sets out a crucial diagnosis, but contemporaneous reports are always preferable. )
I hope this helps, and your wait isn't too long

My award was extended until the 26th Dec, I got my renewal forms in Feb of this year which I had sent back by beginning of March. I have just got a letter confirming my assessment is next Wednesday.
