PIP Renewal Amid False DWP Time Limits

Re PIP Claim Renewal. I was awarded PIP after a tribunal in December of 2020. I believe the claim should have run until around now, but during this year, I was sent a DWP extension notice until January 2022.

Three months after the tribunal, the DWP began sending me forms to renew my PIP claim. As I knew my claim did not need renewing for some time and I was not given a deadline for the form, I did not respond, thinking I could use the form when I needed. After a very short time another form was sent (again unasked for by me) from DWP, this time with a deadline. I returned this in May 2021. I have just gone through the familiar process of (enforced) telephone assessment and received my (obligatory) refusal. What concerns me is that the DWP in their refusal, state as I made an “advance claim on 30 March 2021” (which I didn’t) it “showed my needs have changed.” Damned if I did and damned if I didn’t return it. Now the tiring process of going to tribunal…. Again.

Shash, this is sheer persecution! Please take strength from all of us on here and do as Gary says, tell your MP. If you can, also let John Pring know on Disability News Service, a good friend of B&W readers.

Hi Shash, I would do a SARS request and find out what info the DWP have on you. Also, if your last award was made by a Tribunal, they cannot supersede this.
