Registering with GOV.UK without passport orlicence was created by Finni
I want to register for a GOV.UK account in order to manage my ESA, PIP, tax, forthcoming pension, etc.
I can't get past the automated identity verification system: I don't have a valid passport and the system currently accepts only a passport with a credit check. The specific requirements seem to vary over time. The phone support staff at GOV.UK have no way of bypassing this as these automated verifications seem to be subcontracted.
My driving licence has expired, although licences are not being accepted as an identity document.
I had a similar problem to this to prove my identity for an online NHS account and my GP verified me through official channels.
I wonder if I can get my identity verified by either the ESA or PIP departments as they are both sufficiently satisfied about my identity to pay me. Has anyone got experience of this?
Thank you,
Finni
PS: I am desperately short of time, as my main interest in such an account is to apply for a pension because my ESA is about to stop this week as I reach pension age. Phew!

Hi Finni, it may not be much help, but my sister who does not use the internet at all managed to get her state pension albeit not quickly, by phone and post without ever having had either passport or driving licence.
Most people find the best time to phone with minimum wait is as early in the morning as you can manage, and have something to occupy you eg a wordsearch or sewing while you wait,to reduce the stress.
Best wishes,
Denby
