Wow I am blowed away by the replies so far. All I wanted to do was keep a record so if I needed to amend anything in their report I would have the tape to look back on as my memory is shot and I get very confused.

Thanks Steve

I have had a few medicals in the past where they have mis quoted me and thankfully I was able to remember what I had said.

My Fibro seems to worsen by the day and I have found myself asking my husband or children the same thing numerous times as I have no memory of asking them before.

I am terrified of this upcomming medical an added stress I really do not need at the moment. I know from my past medicals how they twist things and leave things out, I also know they are trying to get as many people as they can off benefits and will use any little thing to do it.

I have two autistic children, my husband is also autistic, has spondylolisthesis, and is being medicated for depression and paranoia, my Brother in law is in ICT with a 40% chance of survival and now this. I am note sure how much more I can cope with.

Hi Fibromite.

Your only way forward is to accept what is going to happen and prepare for your medical well in advance.

If the EMP is not coming out until the new year, that means you have up until 2/1/10 at the earliest. From tomorrow, that gives you at least 2 weeks to jot down as you go through your next 14 days all the things that you need help with, even the smallist amount of help.
Dont be afraid to discuss this with the EMP, explain that you did this in case on the day she/he comes out your symptoms are not at their worst. This was of benefit to you, 1, because you can give the Dr a clear picture over a certain time, and 2. as your concentration isnt good, some things will not automatically spring to mind.

You will need to pay particular attention to why you need help for safety reasons, the |EMP report and the way that it is worded relates a lot to safety.

Also, it would be useful for you to measure your walking distance prior to the visit, so that you can give the EMP a clear indication of the distance, speed, time and manner of your walking before the onset of severe discomfort.

If ot is LRM that you feel you are entitled to, jot down how you feel when out, why do you have to rely on others etc.

If you are prepared well before the visit occurs, and have someone with you to prompt you to mention things to the Dr, and refer to things you have recorded over 2 weeks.

One on the best investments for recording your needs is a simple wee jotter, I only wish I had have thought of doing these things way last year and maybe I would not have had to go through what I have over the past year.

I will be having an EMP visit me shortly, and believe me, I will have well recorded all my problems down before she/he comes. I have actually been doing this over the last two weeks anyway and was able to present it at my tribunal today, and I can tell you it was appreciated by them, and I believe it will be appreciated by the EMP as well.

Good luck

Kathy
