I had a phonecall from a DWP DM yesterday and I'm a little perplexed. The DM asked if I could confirm my name and the name of the Bank that my claim is paid in to; then asked the name or practice name for my Dr; then asked how long my two hospital stays were last year. They then said 'thank you I'll make a decision on your claim today and it will be sent out to you 2nd class so you should have it next week'. I really don't understand how the questions or answers could have any bearing or relevance to my claim. Has anyone else received one of these calls?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Rob
I have heard of a couple of people having this type of call, generally because the DWP is about to pay them a large sum of money or just to clarify up-to-date bank details. Not saying that is about to happen to you - just using it as an example of a legitimate call.

Hi Rob,
I had a very similar phone call from DWP last week. They did the security questions then asked if I had had any stays in hospital (I think this affects your PIP if your stay is more than 28 days). They then said I would be getting a payment into my bank account but couldn’t tell me how much etc, but did confirm I would get a letter in the next two weeks saying I had been awarded PIP. Two days later I also got a text message to say I have been awarded PIP but I still don’t know what level or anything. Hopefully it is good news for you! Let us know if you hear more.
