hi moderators,

Applied for pip first time in mid/late August 2022 got pip 1 form in post back on 14th September 2022 to be completed by 1/10/2022 and sent back well before that deadline. DWP do have my pip 1 form. Question is I reach pension age July 2023 and currently on ESA SG. Do they take the date they first received my letter requesting pip 1 or does the claim begin from 1st October 2022 ?

The starting date of your PIP claim is the date on your PIP claims form providing you posted it back before the due date.

Your ESA will stop when you reach state pension age, you can contact the Pension Service 4 months before your retirement date to apply for your State Pension, you can also apply for Pension Credits 3 months before you retire if eligible; www.gov.uk/pension-credit/eligibility
