Denied ESA payment due to the year 2020

Hi,

I applied for contribution based New style ESA in March 2022 - and was denied any payment due to in-sufficient contributions in 2020 (which was due to being furloughed at 80%).
Is there anyone else on this forum who has the same problem as this?

Thanks.

Have you checked your Contribution history with the Pension Service, even if you did not receive Contributions you may still have received Credits which can be used to meet the second of the two Contribution Conditions?

Hi Gordon,

Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I have checked my contribution history and did not get credits, as I was just under the LEL level.

I’m not sure if this is allowed so I apologise if I need to make my own chat!
If so I’ll delete this and do so.

But this has happened to me also,
It says because of my years 2021-2022 I believe, I’ve had like 5 letters from them saying the same thing in 2 weeks.

It says about my NI history of whatever it is. I checked online and I’ve got 52 weeks for all the years they check and I even called HMRC to ask and they said I have full weeks and there is nothing to pay.

So I don’t understand why ESA have refused me?

Olive's circumstances are different from yours.

If HMRC have confirmed you have the Contributions then get back to the DWP, it is not unknown for their records to be out of date.
