Disability Premiums was created by Carol
Good evening
I would like to ask about the Disability premiums. Do you have to be getting a means tested Benefit to be able to receive the disability premium?
I was unsure so carried on reading and saw the following. On the government website I have seen this statement “ If you do not qualify, you may still get the premium if you’ve been unable to work for at least a year”. With this statement it gives a list of benefits that you may get it with and PIP is one of them. Plus, I’ve been unable to work for more than a year.
If someone can get the disability premiums without means tested benefits, what do you have to do to get it please?
Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I'm afraid you have taken your quote out of context.
The first requirement is that you are receiving a legacy means-tested benefit such as ESA or Income Support. Whilst a means-tested benefit UC is not included.
