Lowe level for mobility appeal? was created by shocksl
Hi
My nephew of 12 yrs old suffers severe autism.
He is about 5ft11 and very hard to handle.
It's becoming increasingly difficult for his mum to take him around . He has no understanding of instructions or and none verbal etc.
His mum is his carer.
He recieves higher amount for personal care.
But lower amount for getting around.
Is there an argument for getting higher amount for mobility as she needs a mobility vehicle to take him around.

Hi shocksI
It is not an easy question to answer, I would point you in the direction of the DLA guide page 21; The Best Possible Disability Living Allowance Claims For Children On Physical and Mental Health Grounds; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/dla/#dlaclaims

That's because the Higher Rate of Mobility is only awarded to claimants who are unable to walk or are virtually unable to walk, there are some other options but they are all physical issues.
