This morning my ESA was not in the bank. I was on internet banking at 4am but that's not unusual for me. I called up at 8am, which was a huge panic inducing call for me to make and was informed that it had been issued so was probably just delayed. It went in at around 10am but instead of the reference being "ESA" it said "JSA". I have never claimed JSA. I know it's silly but little changes make me really anxious. Anyone any idea why it would be different?

Hi hippyhappyone

The only people who can explain the difference are the DWP. It may just be a system error - but you need them to confirm it.

Usually if it's a manual faster payment made and not via BACS it says JSA rather than ESA.
I only know this as when I'd just moved my ESA didn't go into bank. When I rang payment had been suspended till I got in touch due to correspondence I'd been sent had gone to my old address and been returned.
They made my payment straight away by faster payments and was in bank an hour later but said JSA.
Can't say for sure it was a manual payment in this case but does look that is the reason.
