PIP New Application Timescale was created by Cora
Hi,

I've found the site guides really helpful and have submitted my application, but I'm wondering if anyone has any idea of processing times?
How long from submission to application assessment to decision?
I'm clear that the result may week not be what I'd like, but it would be helpful to know when to start keeping an eye for progress.

Hi Cora

Pre the pandemic, we used to be able to give people fairly accurate timescales, but now it is almost impossible for us to do so. We know that the DWP has a backlog, and they are trying to prioritise new claims and those people whose award is close to ending. As a first-time claimant, I hope you would hear within six to eight weeks about the type of assessment you will have, but I'm not certain whether that's realistic in the current climate, and you might want to call the DWP after six weeks or sooner to enquire about the status of your claim. Be aware that it may take you up to an hour to get through.
