New PIP claim timeframe was created by Toucan
Hi
I’ve just posted my new pip claim form to DWP. How long should I expect to wait to get an invite to an assessment. I’m in the Bristol area if that makes a difference.

Hi Toucan
Unfortunately, we're not able to give you an accurate timescale. We know the DWP are fighting a backlog, but they are prioritising new claims and those whose award is near the end date. As a new claimant, I hope you would hear from them between 6 - 8 weeks. However, in reality, we can't be certain, and after six weeks, I would call the DWP and ask them about the status of your claim. Be aware that it may take you up to an hour to get through.

Hi Jan1955
DLA to PIP will be a new claim but just to clarify, the legislation that covers the transfer from DLA to PIP specifically overrides the restriction on receiving the Mobility component of PIP over State Retirement Age, so you can receive a Mobility award on transfer even if you are over SRA at the time.
