Impending Pip assessment help please was created by Helen 47
Hi
I've been a member of this site for over 10yrs ..
Its been wonderful over the yrs with help and advice .

So I'm 64 and have been` on ESA support group for 23 yrs .
With various medical issues .
It was mentioned to me by a health professional that i really should apply for Pip .
So this year i have and in a few weeks time i will be having a telephone assessment.
I have been reading some post regarding this assessment..
Can someone please point me in the right direction as to what questions i may be asked for this assessment.
You would think after all these years ..it should come easy filling forms n having assesment but
This is very stressful
Thankyou

Hi Helen

In my experience, it doesn't get any easier filling in the forms however many times one has done it before - so don't give yourself a hard time for finding it stressful.

If you look at the Guide to PIP claims and reviews you can read about telephone assessments, and it runs through all the questions you are likely to be asked. benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/ The information you require is from page 128 onwards.

Be aware that on a telephone assessment, they invariably throw a curveball and ask a question that seems entirely unrelated to the PIP criteria. A lot of people have experienced this, and it can be disconcerting. If you don't know the answer to a question, just say so, or if you think it's a trick question - tell the assessor you would like a drink of water so you have a moment to think.

We always advise people to take a covert recording of the assessment if they're able to - so claimants have it for reference. You can ask for your assessment to be recorded, but not every assessor wants to be recorded and more often than people would like, something goes wrong with the official recording.

Once you've had a look at the information, if you have any further questions, come back and ask, and we will try and help.
