First PIP claim from start to finish

First off a big thank you for the information guides and forum posts which helped me immensely in completing my first PIP claim, and being successful.

For other claimants interested in the timescale; I applied for PIP on 28th March 2023 and submitted my online forms on 30th April. My documents were sent to IAS on 1st May and I had a recorded telephone consultation with them on 13th June, with the written report returned to DWP on 14th June. As recommended on here I requested the PA4 form on 15th June and it arrived on 17th June. The form suggested that I should receive 11 points for care and 12 points for mobility. I thought I should be entitled to enhanced care as well as enhanced mobility and so immediately wrote to the decision maker explaining my reasoning.

I received a text this morning 5th July saying that I had been awarded PIP with a letter to follow. I phoned as didn’t want to wait to find out the award. When waiting in the queue it tells you what your next PIP payment will be. From the amount stated, I worked out that I have been awarded standard care and enhanced mobility, so the decision maker has agreed with the HP and not taken anything onboard from my letter. Although I feel I should have been awarded enhanced care; and probably only one point short; I’m happy with the award and not going to request a MR, as I don’t want to jeopardise the enhanced mobility.

From start to finish the whole process was 14 weeks.
