DHP

DHP was created by Lynz
Can anyone help with this please.

My friend applied for the DHP a few months ago, it took forever to get a reply and when they did it had been rejected. When she looked at why they had rejected it, they had made a mistake and missed some of her outgoings. She has successfully claimed this before so didn't understand why, so she appealed.

When the appeal came back it had been rejected again, the reason given was she was in receipt of PIP.

So two queries here

1. She didn't think PIP was means tested and therefore shouldn't of affected her claim for DHP

2. When she initially applied for DHP she wasn't receiving PIP

Any help with this would be much appreciated

Hi Rosie

I'm sorry, but your question is outside the scope of the forum. I can confirm the PIP isn't a means-tested benefit. Your friend needs to talk to a specialist welfare advisor. I've attached a link. advicelocal.uk/

Although PIP is not a means tested benefit it can be included in the calculation for DHP, however, your Local Authority should also take into account any expenditure that is linked to your PIP, for example; a Motability car.
