Job centre plus work coach.

Can a job centre work coach force you into an early re-assessment for esa?
I had a young man who rung me today from the job centre, because they are now reconnecting with people like myself who ten years ago was put on work related activity group, my multiple conditions which are progressive mean that I have and will deteriorate as the years go by. I could not get a word in edge ways, I had to finally have to say to him “please let me speak”. I have been told by him that I have to take part in work related activities or get re-assessed. I am really stressed about this as my re-assessment isn’t due for about 13 months. What can I do. Please help.

Hi BIS, the DWP haven’t requested that I have a re-assessment. it is the young work coach who has told me that I have to ask the DWP for a reassessment, or attend work related activities. I am on digital health, where I have equipment in my home so that I can put my observation readings into the machine and send them to nurses or doctors or paramedics who can read what they are. My blood pressure can dip very low and I have been in and out of hospital for the last two years. I have had a massive pulmonary embolism on my right lung and had pneumonia and sepsis twice. The work coach didn’t even let me get a word in. My wife who is my carer had to take the phone and speak to him. He admitted he has targets to meet. I feel pressured and bullied into making the choice to go through the horrendous process all over again when I am always feeling unwell and fatigue. Surely the work coach has the discretion to leave me alone whilst I feel so unwell. He was so pushy, he put Ben Elton to shame with is motor mouth. I feel anxious. Do you think citizens advice might be able to help.

Hi Gary, thank you for your message. I am scared as you can imagine, as you know the DWP are cruel. But because I am now being forced into it, I will follow the guidance from benefits and work, and pray that I get the right outcome. Wish me luck. Thanks again.
