PIP telephone assessment audio recording - where to send?

Does anybody know how and where to send the audio file of my telephone assessment please?

I had my telephone assessment with IAS yesterday. She rang 40 minutes early and it lasted for two hours.

At the start of the call I let her know that I would be recording it. She said that was fine but that I would need to send a copy to them and it couldn't be used for 'malicious purposes'. I just want it for my records.

I wasn't sure whether I needed to send it to IAS or the DWP and how to do this so I rang IAS this morning and the man said I don't need to send it anywhere, just if I need to raise an issue.

Can anybody please clear this up for me? And where to send it if I need to? Thanks so much

Hi Chris Thanks so much for your reply but unfortunately I couldn't see in this information whether I do need to send them the audio file or not, and also where to send it. If anyone has any idea I'd be very grateful. Maybe I will just call the IAS again on Monday as their information was conflicting. Many thanks!

Hi Helen,

Maybe best to check with them, then at least you're aware for sure.

One of the more experienced mods may have an answer to help you - I am new to this, and still have so much more to learn. :) I try help where I can, but like you mentioned previously, the information isn't always clear.

Let us know if you managed or not to get sorted.

Regards, Chris.

Hi Helen

You don't need to send a copy of the audio file that you made - because the DWP will not be listening to it at any point.

The only time the DWP would have a copy is if you had to go to a tribunal - in which case you would send a copy of the audio file and a transcription as part of your evidence to the Tribunal.

You keep your copy of the audio file, and should you need to put in for a Mandatory Reconsideration, you have it to refer to to help you contradict anything you disagree with. Even at that point - the DWP will not consider your recording.

Thank you Chris. Apologies for the slowness of my reply. I called them again and they confirmed I didn't need to send it. All the best, Helen
