I believe it's standard practice to receive the message via your journal. It guarantees that you get the information, and also saves on what would be astronomical postage costs due to the amount of claimants.
Have you been given a date and time, as normally this would happen via an attachment in my experience?

I think they'd pre-warn you if so, or send you a message asking you to contact them - but I totally understand worrying about a situation and the unknown, I am exactly like that myself.
