Telephone Consultation was created by Newton
I am due a telephone consultation this coming week. Around a year ago a filled in a very detailed AR1 and sent it back. The letter for the telephone consultation states, One of our professionals has looked at the information you sent to the DWP, as well as etc. They need to better understand my condition. To be ready for the telephone consultation do i use a copy of the AR1 i kept, or will this consultation be based on the PIP2 form? This is an ongoing award, but i have never had a telephone consultation before, and my medication for MH, makes it hard to function and remember things. The only thing i have is a copy of the AR1 answers i sent last year. Will there be any new questions? or do i need to prepare as if they are asking me questions from the PIP2 (like a brand new claim)?. Thanks in advance

Hi Newton,

First time I've heard of AR1 being new to moderating, so I googled it to check, to see if I could help assist with your query. Anyways, I found a link from a previous chat on this site - it may help answer your question a bit better.

From my own personal experience, it's difficult to prepare for the questions you will be asked. I wrote 8 pages of answers down for my PIP Telephone Assessment, with I think over 30 different answers, yet I remember only having to look at the paperwork for 3 questions, the rest just seemed to be random that I could answer off the top of my head. It's good to be over prepapred in my personal opinion, but I wouldn't beat yourself up trying to remember everything, because 9 times out of 10, I think the assessors ask different things from a random selection.

I remember my assessor asked if I could drive a manual car, to which I replied yes, yet they wrote on my form that because I could drive, I could peel vegetables (of which I only eat Carrots, lol) but it just blows your mind, as to how they come to some of the decisions. Another question I had was - What do I have for breakfast? to which I answered Cereal or Toast. Next thing I know, on the copy of the report, it says that I stretch to get the bread off the top of my cupboard without any issues - yet I've never kept bread on the top of my cupboard, because it's too high and I'd need ladders, so I keep it at arms length, near my glass jars.

If you see where I'm coming from, in my eyes, whatever you say, some of it will be twisted. I read a lot online about others being extremely upset reporting similar things.

Kind regards, Chris.

N

There is a list of the questions you are likely to be asked in our PIP Claim guide, there is also a section on telephone assessments.
