Hi all
I have received a txt today to say that my review has started and the forms are in the post. My present award does not end till November 2024.....is this normal. Seems very early? Anyone else experienced this?
Thank you in advance

Hi Dawsden

Before the pandemic, the DWP used to send out the review forms up to a year before the award end date. However, because of the backlog, they have started this year to send them out up to eighteen months before the end date to ensure they have time to process them and people aren't left without money.

Hello dawsden

You say your present award ends in November 2024. When you were last awarded PIP, is this the end date of your award you were originally given in your decision letter? Were you told they would contact you after November 2023 to look at your award again (i.e. review)?

Or, was your award end date originally November 2023 and were you told it was extended (because of backlogs) to November 2024?

If the latter, then it explains why the PIP review process has started 14 months before your current award end date. If November 2024 is an extended end date (from November 2023), then the DWP can initiate your review at any time from November 2022. So, in fact your review is not being initiated early but 10 months later than originally planned.

The DWP give out these extensions for THEIR administrative benefit (to cope with backlogs since Covid), to give THEM time to complete a review so that a claimant is not left without payment should an award end before a review can be completed.

If, in fact, November 2024 was your original award end date, then I am very surprised that they are initiating a review 2 months earlier then you were led to expect the process to start.

When I was last reviewed, I was given a 4 year PIP award to end in November 2024. In my award letter of November 2020, they specifically state that they will write to me AFTER November 2023 to look at my award again, i.e. review it. I have not (so far) received a text to say they are initiating my review and sending out a form and my current award end date, like yours, is November 2024. But, my award end date is the original award end date, not an extended one.

So, I am interested to know if November 2024 is your original or extended award end date because I may be imminently be affected, too. *Sigh*

Hi,

If I may...

DWP can start a review at any time, regardless of award length.
