Can I get Esa contributions new style was created by Polly P
Hello I’ve applied for new style contribution based Esa , I called NI department they said 20-21 21-22 ( these are the years the lady from the dole said I need to of met to get t the benefit ) I’ve paid enough to meet requirements for pensions she did not know if that was enough for benefits or not .

I passed limited capabilities for work for UC 12 months ago but don’t receive any uc as husbands wages too high .

Will I be able to get any Esa or does it go off universal credit

And does paying enough national insurance for pension purpose mean I’ve paid enough for new style Esa .

I apologise if I’m not making much sense I’ve bipolar and autism and totally at a loss with what I should be doing benefits wise .

Sorry

I have to go to job centre to take ID on Friday to process my claim and I’d rather not if I’m not entitled to it hence asking here . As struggling leaving house mentally at the moment

Thank you

Hi Polly P

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

Your post is a bit confusing as you say that you passed LCW last year but did not get any UC due to your husbands income,

My first question to ask you is, did you not apply for NS ESA? this would be based on your NI contributions and not on your husbands income.

My second question to ask you, did you work last year?

You do need to see your local Welfare Rights Organisation who will be able to take all your circumstances into consideration to give you an accurate answer to your question; advicelocal.uk
