Medical evidence - necessary or not? was created by Anxious Anonymous
I’m doing my PIP review and I’m still undecided about what I want to include. There’s tons of good evidence but there’s the little niggles, one or two, I feel could go against me or at best, describe a relative fluctuation.
But with using Fightback4justice and seeing other websites say medical evidence is important. I have read on this website about how you can succeed without specific medical evidence, and also on Scope, many of the users had zero medical evidence.
I’m finding it a bit of an um and ah situation as to whether I include any at all, which is a gamble, I know! But the thought of displaying my entire problems from consultants. It makes me feel queasy and there’s always a worry it will be misinterpreted.
As my mental health issues have, admittedly, been minimised by some professionals and now I am having my psychological push for a home treatment team because my partner expressed concerns.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Anxious Anonymous
You know we can't tell you what to do here. Only you can decide whether to send information in or not. I would not waste time trying to compare yourself against other claimants. Everyone is an individual, and what appears to work for one person won't for another. You have to do what feels right for you. There is no magic formula for success, and I have never met anyone who didn't wish they had either sent evidence or not included evidence or written more or less. When it comes to assessments, people always wish they had said something different, or they wish they'd remembered to say some important point they forgot. It's a horribly stressful process, but at some point, every claimant must stop and accept they've done their best and leave it at that.
Will the DWP/assessment services misinterpret some of the evidence you send in? Possibly. If you don't send any information in - will they still make assumptions that could be wrong? Possibly. The fact is none of us knows what's going to happen because there are few certainties in this process.
