Mobility and state pension was created by Souter
I have been told I have osteoarthritis in my knees and also was given dextra scan 4 years sgo which confirmed osteoporosis,
I know have pain ifor some time in my lower back and struggle badly to get out of bed during the night for the toilet. . I had to give work 5 months earlier through I’ll health . before my state pension age due to pain walking and pain in lower back, my shifts were 12 hours. I receive care component since 2022 and I also applied for the pain in my knees at the same time. The didn’t give me anything for mobility there reason was I was able to goto work on a long shift. . I did receive the enhanced rate for care component until 2031,
Every time I attend my Gp I keep forgetting to mention the lower back pain which crept up in me about 4 months ago . I struggle badly with the pain in both knees. I am going to apply for mobility component I reach my pension beginning of November . Should I mention my back pain since I’ve only just mentioned it to my Gp have an Gp appointment this week.
Kind regards

Hi Souter

You can't be awarded the mobility component of PIP after you reach State Pension Age, so if you want any chance of receiving it you will need to put in for a change of circumstances now. Be aware that several members have been turned down for the mobility component because it took the DWP too long to process the forms and even though they put in the request for a change of circumstances before the SPA they were turned down. You need to act quickly!
