Wouldn't support for life outside of work just qualify him, irrespective of work? If he needed support for 50% of the time? Regards.

Hi Filey
You can't just ignore the work aspect - they won't. Even if you say he spends only 10% of the week at work, they will want to know that his difficulties at home are also present at work, and they will query how he manages. Don't try and gloss over the work aspect (and I'm not saying you are) but you want to avoid the danger of them saying - he works so he's not as bad as you say he is.

Yes, I know what you mean and it's why I've asked the question in the first place. I just wanted clarification. Its precisely what they are doing, saying he works etc. At the last tribunal the judge saw first hand his struggles and he worked full time then, and we won and the dwp representative there tried to trick my son when she asked something, and he genuinely did not know what she meant, i did and the panel did. The judge repremanded the dwp representative and worded it herself, differently, so my son understood it. I am not thinking for one minute that we will win again though. But he has the same struggles at work that he does at home and his work are very supportive for both the communication and engaging
activities, which keeps him being able to work. Im trying to build a strong case , hence my questions. Thank you very much to you and the other mods. You are all very helpful.

Hi Filey,
It's a natural response for a mother to stand up for their son (well in most cases, not always with some people) and you'll see his difficulties at home, and he will probably want to try and attempt work to have some sort of normality feeling ( I did the same myself, and was finished from 2 lots of employment - one job lasting 6 weeks, and another 3 months ) - and it totally shatters your confidence, yet this government have plans and I think it's going to make things much worse trying to force sick/disabled etc... people back into employment, and I hate to say it but I've read about people thinking it'll increase the suicide rates, because some will not be able to cope. I myself have struggled with various jobs, to fit in with people because they don't ask things in a way that I should understand, feel bullied and pressured at times, and it really does make you feel rock bottom, like there's no way out at times. I guess you have to stay hopeful and pray that you get one of the good ones that'll award in his favour again. Me personally, I think a lot of this for the DWP and government is about the extra money that LCWRA and PIP brings, when there should be groups that award in your favour, but some without the extra money - because it's not always about the money for some.
Regards, Chris.

Yes, I agree with you and I am sorry you have struggled and probably still are, in your life. Its not nice. And this whole process of Pip and other things, are not nice to go through, infact it's awful! The last time his award was stopped, it was because he worked and drove but this does not mean he has not got the same difficulties, which I argued my point at the tribunal. Its frustrating at times and maddening. I will not give up though. Hes struggled all his life and always will. And I agree with the suicide too, what you have wrote. My son also struggles with this and not wanting to be here any more because of how hard it can be for him etc but he always soilders on . This site is a god send though. Regards .
