Hi, I am completing my sons pip tribunal appeal. The last tribunal awarded my sons points back for needing communication support to express , understand complex verbal info etc and for needing social support to engage with other people. The judge awarded 4 points for each descriptor. My son was working full time in a factory at the time but with a small number of people. He has since changed jobs to another factory , again with a small amount of people. He gets support from his supervisor and management when he is having difficulties at work, through being on the spectrum. I am just checking something , does the support he receives at work count as a person, people who support him , like myself and my sons sister supports him with life outside of work and when he's working. Can the work people who support him whilst he is working count too? Thank you.

Hi Filey,
Social support can comprise a person who knows you well, eg family or even employer It doesn't have to be anyone with specialist training, such as a counsellor or other health care professional.

Mention the work place support, it is relevant as a 'reasonable adjustments as well as potentially being 'social support'. Confirm what support the workplace provides, and what would happen if no such support existed. Explain the same for what happens at home.
You mention support for having difficulties at work, if this consists of poor behaviour, you may wish to consider if it comprises 'exhibits behaviour which would result in a substantial risk of harm to the claimant or another' under 9d.

Hi, thank you. That is extremely helpful. I can't open the link for some reason. At work he has done things in the past that is unsafe, such as climbing on top of a machine to put a cardboard box over the speaker, as it was too loud for him. He could have got dismissed for that , as it was a safety issue but his manager talked to my son instead etc. I've put this on the appeal form. Thanks again. Any other advise I would greatly appreciate.
