Mixed age Couple DLA and PIP.......premiums ? was created by CFremont
Hello
We are a mixed age couple, I am in my 50's and my partner 65.
He has terminal cancer (no time scale given) and heart/kidney issues
He is my carer for mental health reasons
We have just applied for PIP for him and have just got an award for standard on daily living and mobility, only found out today (no letter as of yet)
I have Contrib based ESA support group 129.50
DLA high care and low mob 122.65 per week
My partner has Income Support 54.60 per week
Carers Allowance 76.75 per week Thanks
also HB
Now we are both on DLA and PIP, is there some sort of premium...I can not remember if someone had mentioned that before. A disability premium I think it was called. Thanks a lot

Hi CFremont
As you are both in receipt of a qualifying benefit, your partners Income Support should now increase by Couples rate severe disability premium £152.80pw, your partner should also get a enhanced disability premium couple rate £27.90 pw.
Remember, what you get in one hand, they take away with the other, if you claim council tax support the amount, this get will reduce. We would advise you to seek help from your local Welfare Rights Organisation; advicelocal.uk
