question on ESA savings limits was created by vicki_s
Hi there

My partner is due to inherit 30k which means he'll soon lose his entitlement to IR ESA (he's not entitled to contribution Esa) I was wondering can they freeze this claim until he's back under the 16k limit? Or will his claim be cancelled completely and he'll have to reapply again once under the 16k limit?

Thanks

Replied by Gary on topic question on ESA savings limits
Hi vicki_s

Thank you for your question.

The answer is not he cannot freeze his claim, once he goes over £16k in savings his IR ESA will stop, once his savings go under £16k then he will have to apply for Universal Credit as new claims for IR ESA have stopped.
