Should we tick box for UC 'Sharing information about your health condition'?

On the online version of the UC 0623 Form, there is a section on page 18 asking us if we give consent for them to contact our doctors.
"They might ask for the relevant information from your doctor, or any other relevant professional you tell them about."

I don't see anything in the paid member guides about this.

1. Is there reason to be concerned? What if the doctors are out of date or the information is misused?

2. Is it better to tick yes or no?

3. Alternatively, if left blank, will they bounce the form back, until a choice is selected?

Hi BV

We can't tell you what to do here. It's a personal choice. Some people refuse, and some people say yes. Some people have refused and found that their doctor has still been contacted.

You're worried about a doctor giving out-of-date information. I'm afraid that is a risk that everyone faces, Drs don't tend to understand DWP criteria or language and can on occasions say the wrong thing even when they have the intention to help their patient.

The DWP/Assessors don't often contact GPs or other health professionals unless claimants have not given enough information or there is something they particularly want to check.

If you leave it blank, it won't hold up the process - but if they want to contact someone - they probably will anyway.
