My universal credit is being reviewed. I have given all my financial details. It has been 5 and a half months. The agent won't give me a completion date. Is five and a half months an excessive time. What have other members found?

Hi Janed,

This does seem an excessive amount of time - of the 2 reviews I had last year and this year, one took 11 weeks, and another 6 weeks. I did, during my first assessment, have my UC stopped for 5 weeks also, which did cause me issues with other payments, but this year, it was fine.

Chris.

We have just had the hassle of you call if that of review. We were called in office to take our ID in which we did and they said all ok. Then a week or so after we got a message on journal asking for all back statements. Conflicting request tho one said last four months other one specified a period from April to August ?? Very frustrating and anxiety high as struggled to get stuff in format they could accept. After much help and long nights eventually sent in and confirmed on journal all done. Waiting on feedback. Bit unsure why asked for specific date. We’ve been open about all current accounts and savings. Hopefully all ok. We don’t think savings over the £6k but worried if they use what’s in current account too which they shouldn’t as that’s day to day money for bills etc isn’t it ?? Anyway can breath a little again now. Not sure what next stage is ?? Anyone else had fun with this ?

Hi ambo,

They take everything into consideration - they have done with me, even when I mentioned I had bills to pay, it didn't matter - anytime I was over the £6,000 for all accounts, £4.35 for every £250 was deducted. I also ended up with a £50 fine for not informing them first of my help 2 save account, and I said "I'm sorry, I didn't realise that I had to tell the DWP, that I had savings with the DWP, I would've assumed they already knew".

Some of the people doing these checks are awful. Mine was last year, picked at everything, but the lady I had this year was very helpful, and understanding, and explained everything in great detail, to help me.
