Might be a long shot, but I was just wondering if anyone here has ever found the Jobcentre useful in helping them look for work? I ask because despite worsening health, I have been desperate to try and get back to work for the last few years.
Back in the days when I claimed Jobseekers Allowance, they were no help, but at least in those days they had those public kiosks (called 'Job Points') which showed vacancies in the local area. Every job I got back then I found of my own accord. Whenever I've been on ESA, jobcentre staff have only ever fobbed me off. I did the two year "work programme" ages ago, and instead of helping me back to work, they just harassed me to the point of being quite ill. The only thing useful anyone did was a two week "employability" course at Learn Direct, where the tutor gave us a lot of advice regarding the local economy, interviews, CVs, as well as giving us detailed demonstrations of websites like Universal Jobmatch and others. But this itself was quite a long time ago now.
I'm just curious if anyone has any tips/advice/experience to share.
