Thanks Chris,
Even the answer they said to you about " the assessors make correct assumptions based on their knowledge," I don't know how they try and make it seem that assumptions are worth more then "facts.."
Zenzen.

Hi Zenzen,
I think some of them are clearly clueless, and say whatever pops into their mind at the time. At least with AI assessors, they'd all tell you the same information

Hi ZenZen. Since I've also been wondering about complaining about a previous assessment myself (PIP), and similarly wouldn't know where to start, I've just had a scrabble around for us both...
I found that there is some guidance in the B&W PIP Guide under 'Complaining about your assessment' (p124 of current edition). At the risk of over-complicating, I can also offer up a few other's posts I found (on this forum & Scope's), in case you find their encounters with complaining offer further perspective applicable for you: B&W1 , B&W2B&W2 , Scope
Best wishes anyway.

Hi Gaz,
Thanks for your reply, it's always good to see what other people have gone through with similar things. I have made a complaint, and received a letter that they are investigating, will see what they have to say...
Can let you know if I hear anything. But I don't want another assessment if they offer, as it was quite stressful.
Regards
Zenzen.

Hi ZenZen,
Keeping a complaint brief keeps it punchy!
Have in mind what you are trying to achieve
A new report?
An apology?
Compensation? (Possible but you certainly won't get rich!)
Yes there may well be loads of inaccuracies. Sit down with a spare piece of paper and see if you can group the errors. Try and achieve 4 or 5 bullet points. Then give examples of the worse errors relating to each bullet point. This is all that is required.
Here's some ideas. Maybe put the most important error first.
• The assessor appears to have misunderstood or misrecorded many things that I said -
I do not own a car, and have never learnt hiw to drive and therefore there is no comparison that 'because she can drive a car, she can cook or prepare food'
• Throughout the assess the assessor was very condescending and would not accept that I was on constant pain, he did not wish to read the Consultant's report confirming that I had been prescribed oramorph 10mg three times per day.
• There are many factual inaccuracies in the Report. These includes 'coping well at interview' and attending on my own and answering all questions freely.
- I was in tears throughout, and was accompanied by my wife. My wife answered most of the questions as I was too anxious This is clearly indicated on the recording of the assessment that my wife made. (A copy of which I enclose)
Then maybe a 'catch all' point at the end.
The assessment report is very poorly written there are many spelling errors, instances of poor grammar and several parts that do not make sense.*
The manner of the report writing mirrors the factual inaccuracies, matters misrecorded, etc all indicatibg that the assessor clearly was not paying much attention during the assessment process.
* (Going through 291 individual spelling/grammar errors will easily lose the reader's attention!)
So...how to start
Re My Name My NI Number
Assessment [date]
Dear Sirs,
I am writing to complain about the PIP assessment that was conducted on X date. This does not reflect the true nature of my disabilities, and can not be relied upon by any DWP Decision Maker. I wish to complain, in particular about the following matters -
[Bullet points here]
I would be grateful for written confirmation of the following:
1. What disciplinary or other action has been taken against Assessor - Mr X to ensure that this form of treatment/poor manner of reporting will not happen again
[ delete/edit as appropriate]
2. That this assessment will not be taken on to consideration by DWP when deciding my PIP claim
3. An apology from the Assessor/Capita
I look forward to receiving your written response with 14 days of the date if this letter.
Yours faithfully,
[ signed your name]
Make sure name and NI number is on all pages.
Enclose and refer to any relevant documents, such as transcript or copy of recording, medical evidence that was ignored etc.
I hope this helps.

Hi Gaz,
Sorry it's taken so long for me to sign back, I've only just seen what you wrote, thank you very much for you reply. I did write a complaint letter, still waiting for their response. My M.R has been put through, they waited for documents, and I've put a letter from my Doctor. As I am waiting for the complaint letter, do you think, when they write back, I should also send that to the mandatory reconsideration,? I don't know what they will say anyway, but do you think I should wait for that, or ask them to start it?
Regards
