Holiday abroad was created by R
Hi,
I'm currently in the ESA support group and will migrate to the UC LCWRA in the next few weeks.
I'm considering going abroad this year for the first time in many years. If I do, it will be for 7 or 14 days.
I've read conflicting information and i overthink everything way too much, so I wanted to check if there was a legal requirement to inform ESA or UC.

Hi R
As you are in the Support Group there is no need to inform UC. Some people are in the All Work Conditionality Group and in fact are not allowed to go on holiday which is a fact probably not a lot of people know.

Sorry for butting in but this is most interesting! I think we’re all terrified now as DWP keep saying we must tell them if we leave the country. I’ve not been anywhere for absolutely ages due to this. I feared when we transfer to UC it would come up on the bank statements, & we’d get done for fraud & benefits stopped.
Thanks David.

Hi,
I know someone who claims LCWRA and both elements of the higher rate PIP. They go abroad twice a year and never have any issues with their benefits stopping or DWP contacting them or anything.
Chris.

Chris, do they let DWP know they’re going abroad? I’ve always thought that we had to. I know of someone who spends an awful lot of time in a far away country, longer than they spend here.

Hi Bud,
They don't, no - they just go. They have had DWP in touch before, as they've been doing it for about 8 years, but they've an autistic and ADHD child who they say it helps him when they go abroad.
