I do find it strange that the review process and criteria is not transparent

HI B&W Forum ,
Having submitted sons account stms, DWP have come back and asked for stms where the UC is paid into - that would be my account details . i am the appointee.
Is this normal procedure ? Feels very intrusive. I would have thought that they can see payments made to son account matching his UC allw. Isn't that the key point?
Your thoughts and advice Thanks

Hi Sum
As you are the Appointee then the Benefits payments should go into your account. So that is why the DWP are asking for your bank statements.

Hi B&W forum ,
Update is that I submitted my bank stms to show UC credits and all ins and outs. I did not submit any other account info other than to account related to UC payments.
We now have a tel appt with review agent. The UC journal states :
" This appointment is to review your Universal Credit claim, discuss the information you have already provided and for you to provide further evidence." approx 60 mins appt
Does anyone have experience of review meeting and what to expect ? i thought bank stm would be self explanatory.
Thank you in adv

Hi Sum,
I've had experience with this. They ring you and record the call, so that they have it on file as to whether you're telling the truth or not in relation to what incomings and outgoings you have. They will ask about ISAs, Savings accounts, Paypal and things like that, but they're not interested in Credit Card debt. They will likely check for payments relating to rent/c.tax/energy/TV/phones and things like that. I've had 3 of these calls. 2 really went out of their way to help me, but 1 I had back in 2022 was a right jobsworth and stopped my UC for 5 weeks because I forgot to declare my Help 2 Save account. I didn't realise that I would have to tell the DWP that I had a bank account with the DWP.
Hope it all goes well though.....
Chris.
