UC managed migration extension was created by Ukstevo7
I got the letter saying I have to claim before 4th April. But I have also received letters that my money would go up that same week. And also I have shared ownership house so half my house is owed by housing association and I get housing benefit. I got a letter saying my rent rise is on the 1st April by £15 pm.
I called them this week and asked for longer but they said I have enough time. But I said would need to maybe talk to citizens advise just so I can get an extra month.
If I get that time then all my rates would be covered.
The reason is because I’m on the support group and premium amounts the UC would be about £200 pm less. I get the transition protection but that would be instantly be eaten up by the loss of both the rises I should get.
So what should I do to get the time to get the April rises coved so I would have a year before I start to lose money not just a week.
Would if I get the extra month delay the letter says call if need more time. Would this if I get extended time still be covered for the transition protection if they agree to give me the extra time so I can get advise?
Thank you 🙏

Hi Ukstevo7
There is another deadline in the Managed Migration process which is called the Final Deadline and that is the end of the first Assessment Period which would be allocated if the claim had been made on the Migration end date. So from what you have told me I would advise making your UC claim between the 12th and 18th April so as to take advantage of the Annual Benefits Uprating.
If they give you the extra month your Transitional Protection will be increased with the Annual Benefits Uprating if you claim after the increase.

Thank you. So do I call them and ask for extra time? What is the final deadline date? The date on the letter and text I got this week says the 2nd. So just so I know when or what to do to get the April up rate. It’s just such a bad time to give me. May would be fine but April is no good for the instant loss of up rate.

Hi Ukstevo7
As I previously mentioned there is Migration Final Deadline which is the end of the first Assessment Period. I would phone the Citizens Advice Help to Claim number which is on page 2 of your Managed Migration letter. Here is a recommendation of their service from Forum member VIA-

So the 3 months the letter said “claim by 2nd April or your benefits my stop” is that not the date I would lose my managed migration and the tp. I will call uc and ask for extra time as I’m trying to get citizen advice to help and that would be after the 2nd. It’s just so stressful as I’m physically disabled and can’t even move about. So this is just a horrible situation. I just need the up rate to help keep my costs okay for the next year before I lose more and more with hb.
Tnx
