My apologies if I am rehashing concerns for people claiming PIP, but I have not been on the forum for a while due to ill health, so I am not as updated as I perhaps should be.
I am of course, extremely worried regarding upcoming proposals to PIP, as I have an indefinite award due to the fact I am now over retirement age and my conditions are not going to get any better here on in. This may come across as somewhat selfish (and I sincerely apologize if I give that impression), but I have never heard anything in all the rhetoric about what may happen to people of my age or similar regarding our current PIP awards. The changes and talk all seems to be aimed at those claimants of working age and the older claimants are completely in the dark. For instance, we do not know if we will keep the actual payments and the currently implemented light touch review process, or whether all claimants are going to be mainstreamed in whatever action this Government carries out.
I know it seems as if certain proposals are leaking out, although all unconfirmed, but I have not heard anything whatsoever regarding older claimants. Once again, my apologies if my query sounds in any way mercenary. That is absolutely not my intention.
Any thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated.
Thank You - Hugh

Hi Hughie

You cannot believe everything you read in the papers, when Steve and the back office have any information it will be reported in the B&W newsletter, so if you have not already signed up to the free news letter, I would recommend it.

I am in a similar situation to you. I am receiving income related ESA and an indefinite award of PIP. I am due to receive the full state pension next year. I do not know how I would manage if my PIP were to be stopped or reduced. It is extremely worrying.

I will be in the same boat when I reach 66 in November and personally I am just as concerned regarding their hasty ill thought out plans regarding assisted dying

I sincerely hope you get through their cut-off point, as they are almost certain to introduce one. I cannot for the life of me see what changing PIP for current claimants over the retirement age can do. To be brutally honest, it is highly unlikely our conditions are going to improve here on in.
