Only 3 types of ID accepted for online identity check, 2 required.

Hi,

Just thought I would share my experience of managed migration.

Today I completed my UC claim. When it came to verifying my ID online, I told them which methods I had available to me. I chose P60 and biographical checks as my passport is expired and so is my provisional driving license.

When it came to verifying my ID, I was given only three options:

1. Provide details of a valid passport

2. Provide details of a valid driving license

3. Provide a most recent P60

Two of the three options was required. Therefore, I was unable to confirm my identity online.

Also, I had to accept my claimant does this mean that I still need to accept a claimant commitment at a Job Centre or by phone? I was given a deadline of March 18th (I accepted on March 12th).

I followed the guidance provided hen that there were more options of proving my ID online and was under the impression several methods were available. Perhaps things have changed?

Regarding my "what happens next", I'm told to expect a call, but I do not know the nature of the call other than to 'confirm the details I have provided.

I am migrating from ESA Support Group to UC. I have asked for reasonable adjustments as per the guidance.

I hope this information can help, and I was wondering if anyone knows that the 'claimant commitment' is complete, since I accepted it online?

Thank you

Hi xolotl

You are correct that an expired passport cannot be used for online ID verification. But it can be used for a face to face ID check which unfortunately means a trek down to the Jobcentre. However you can instead request a Home Visit from the DWP Visiting Team to verify your ID.
You may have to accept 2 claimant commitments, one for UC and one for New Style ESA.
I would wait until your phone call and then contact us.
Have you thought of using the Citizens Advice Help to Claim service. Their phone number is on page 2 of your Managed Migration letter. Here is a recommendation from our Forum member VIA-

Hi David, thank you for your reply.

I will take your advice and await the phone call. I have already posted a reasonable adjustment request should I need to go to the job centre. But I will keep you posted.
