Taking nutrition was created by Beatrice
Hi I have a question about taking nutrition and hope you can help.
I am on 95% Huel meal replacement shakes for my nutrition. I do this deliberately because I need to get as much nutrition as I can for the smallest amount of energy expended. I have the exact same flavour every time because difference in flavour and texture and macro nutrients costs both physical and cognitive energy. I don't have the energy to sit up and eat off a plate using cutlery even once a day never mind three times a day. However I am (mostly) able to lie fully supported and sip out of a screw top bottle throughout the day when I have energy to do so meaning I am able to get nutrition.
Maybe once or twice a week I will eat normal food (to be social rather than because I want to) but never prepare it myself and it affects my digestive system badly when I do. All my blood tests are satisfactory. I have chronic fatigue syndrome.
So does this mean I can take nutrition or can't?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Beatrice
I would say that you can't, but be careful that you focus on your CFS, which is the reason why you can't. If you say that you eat a couple of times a week to be social, there is a risk that the assessor will say that you can take nutrition, but you choose not to. So I would be careful how you say something like that.

Thank you. I certainly am not able to eat a varied and nutritious diet with real food. I don’t have the energy to use cutlery everyday, even once a day. When I’ve agreed to eat a meal and sit at the table, by the time the meal had arrived my energy had gone and I had to be fed as I couldn’t lift my arms. I would be able to snack on finger food throughout the day while reclining though.
Eating real food with cutlery is like washing my hair weekly, it takes a huge amount of effort and takes a long time to do and recover from.
