UC migration questions

UC migration questions was created by Benson
So I am soon to migrate to UC from ESA after being given a migration letter and deadline. Can I just ask some questions ?

1. I am in the support group of ESA, do I need to mention this in the journal after singing up ?

2. A couple of weeks back a jobcentre or DWP worker told me their screen will show a big red banner saying ESA MIGRATION, does this mean older problems with the migration process (where staff didn't know they were ESA migrations) may now be ironed out ?

3. If I manage to pass ID checks (using passport and drivers license) should this mean I shouldn't need to go to the job centre ?

4. I have 4 bank accounts, do I need to list them all on the UC application even though they don't total more than £6000 or just the one that UC payments go in to ? I have about £3500 in total spread out between them. Will listing 4 bank accounts and £3500 mean I am more likely to be asked for statements ?

5. My old car was scrapped in January as the cost to fix was way more than the car was worth, and I have an invoice from a dentist of £1000 for future dental work (so it is just a list of what needs to be done and cost) as I can't get an NHS dentist. I will also need to get a cheap second hand car. Whatever I list them as being in my account now will be totally different in a months time, I will be left with next to nothing in my account. So do I list what is in them now or what will be in there in a months time ?

6. I am also worried if they do a review soon they will see £3000 (£2k car and 1k dental) come out of my account in short succession. I presume I am allowed to spend that ? If the car is a private sale how do I prove what it was spent on ? I have not found a suitable car yet.

7. I live with my mother, do I need to mention this ? As it doesn't ask if living with parents, it just asks if I have housing costs or kids or a partner, none of which I do. I buy my own food and clothes, etc, with the ESA benefits money.

Thanks for any help !!

Replied by David on topic UC migration questions
Hi Benson

To answer your questions -
Yes you can mention it in your Journal
Yes the DWP are supposed to be addressing the previous errors
Yes you won't have to go to the Jobcentre if you pass the online test but make sure your passport has not expired
As for bank accounts you just need to answer the questions on the form
You need to input your savings now not at a future date
Yes you are allowed to spend that money on a new car and dentistry.
Your living with your mother won't affect your UC but may affect her Benefits if she gets them.
