Esa run on payments deducted as income for uc was created by shaz789123
Hi,
my first universal credit statement shows >£500 of deductions due to ESA income. Am i correct in thinking that the ESA 'run on' payments between submitting my universal credit migration claim and my first uc payment should be disregarded? When i called up UC they said that it was considered income, so uc is deducted for the first month, but from the following month it wouldn't be deducted.
If so, this means i will have over £500 less income this month due to this? Is this what normally happens? Wondering if I've misunderstood or budgeted incorrectly :/
Thank you!

Hi shaz789123
Your monthly payment of UC is reduced by your actual payment of Contributions Based ESA which is £552 every 4 weeks. After Migration Conts ESA is known as New Style ESA.
At the end of the day you are no worse off with this deduction.

Oh right, so I will be receiving ESA payments too? I was on income based esa (lcwra) before (originally on contributions based and then this changed to income based), and seemed to have moved from contributions based esa to new style esa, however i've not had anything through to say i will be receiving any payments from them?

Hi shaz789123
Hopefully they will be uploading statements to your UC Journal in the future.
