UC Review was created by Onyx123
We have had a message of a UC review which is very intrusive to my mind. 4 months of bank statements, we have to hold photo ID so the picture is the same. On the bank statements can redact where I have spent money and where I spent it. Or where money has come into my bank. I back horses and I don't want them to know my business.

Further to my last post my wife and I are considering closing our UC claim because we think the review is too intrusive. By closing the UC claim it will not affect my contribution based ESA claim where I am in the support group.

Hi Onyx123

You are correct in that closing your UC claim won't affect your Conts ESA at all.
I would phone UC or send a Journal message and ask if they are investigating an overpayment of UC. As if they are you will want to defend yourself which is only possible if the claim is kept open. Otherwise you may get a demand out of the blue for a repayment in a few months time.

UC actually owe me £154. Our circumstance will be changing at the end of March with one of my daughters moving back home who earns a good salary. We only get £330 a month off UC that doesn't even cover the rent. With my daughter moving back in with her salary they might remove our entitlement anyway. I really don't know the reduction they would make with a non dependent on a good salary. Weighing everything up it is not worth claiming UC with the government wanting to know your every breath. My wife works and they know her earnings. To me bank statements reveal your movements and the reason they want to bring in for them to check banks accounts at will. We get our payment on the 5th of the month and they want the evidence in the qualifying period the month before to be able to stop the payment on the 5th April. I will ring UC tomorrow.
