The renewal letters can be sent out up to a year before then end date. It's not an exact science, and while some people get them with 12 months to go - some people get less. I would start chasing them when there is 6 months left on your award. With everything that's going on and a backlog of cases I'm not surprised to hear you haven't yet got one.
