Universal Credit Working Age Class was created by chezza1959
Is anybody able to advise me of how to find out what Universal Credit Working Age Class I am in? Have received my new Council Tax bill which has only been reduced slightly because I am now in receipt of universal credit and apparently it is calculated using my Working Age Class.

So despite getting 100% previously on IS, I'm only now getting a small reduction. The bill is so complicated I'm struggling to understand how it has been calculated and I haven't been able to find any info on Working Age Class.
I was advised to contact Benefits team at my council, but there is only an email, no phone and they have not responded to my email.

Also, is anybody aware of elements of benefits which SHOULD be disregarded in calculation?

Hi chezza1959

A lot of people are finding that on the move to UC the Council is charging them more Council Tax. It is a deliberate ploy by Councils to get extra money from disabled claimants receiving LCWRA. Every Council in the UK is allowed to choose its own rules for the Council Tax Reduction scheme. It is not because of the Working Age/Pension age split. For Council Tax you are either above State Pension age or below it and that is called Working Age.
