Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Ninko
A lot of people are finding that on the move to UC the Council is charging them more Council Tax. It is a deliberate ploy by Councils to get extra money from disabled claimants receiving LCWRA. Every Council in the UK is allowed to choose its own rules for the Council Tax Reduction scheme. So this practice varies from Council to Council and usually occurs more in the Tory Councils.

Right, so can I ask, what's the difference between being on UC and contribution ESA and JUST being on UC?
Thanks

Hi Ninko
One of the main difference apart from being fortnightly on CB ESA is the class of NI stamp being paid. You receive a class 1 credit for each complete week you have a limited capability for work.
To help meet the contribution condition for state pension and widowed parent's allowance, you get a Class 3 credit for each week in which you are entitled to UC for any part of the week.

Right... I'm starting to think I've made a big mistake and asked to end my CB ESA.
Would it be too late to stop the end of my award if I rang up next week?
Thanks

Hi Ninko
From my understanding your award cannot just stop without an assessment, so yes contact them next week to see what is happening and let us know.

But I actually asked them to stop my ESA award as I thought it was a mistake and they said they would do that today!
Can that be reversed if I contact them next week and explain that I made a mistake?
Like I said I don't understand all these changes.
I'm panicking now!
Thanks
