I'm currently migrating to UC, but my original tenancy agreement was rejected because my landlord has switched letting agencies since I signed it in 2020, and the UC/Jobcentre rep told me I need a tenancy agreement or letter from my new letting agency.
Is this correct? My landlord hasn't changed and I've been paying rent the whole time (on time), uninterrupted by the change in agencies.
I have now signed a new tenancy agreement with the new agency, and am awaiting a copy from them to send as proof, but they are being slow to respond and seem uninterested when I tell them that I need this urgently. I have a draft copy of this agreement, but it has no signatures, and my deadline for showing housing proof is a few days away.
My question is: should the DWP in fact have accepted the original tenancy agreement?
Yes the UC agent should have accepted your original tenancy agreement. I expect it was a Work Coach and they have been making lots of errors as evidenced by this and other Forums.
