any chance of late appeal was created by mels
Good day
I was awarded liftime DLA in about 2000 and then in 2018 had to fill in PIP but was griveing for the loss of my daughter and could not complete the forms. I lost all money and they took my mobility car. I cannot walk at all, and cannot stand up without crutches and even with crutches cannot walk a step now, only transfer from settee to wheelchair or indoor scooter. I have lived with my mother since 2015 and have no slope to leave the house so have not gone out since 2018. I am a pensioner now since last year and have the pension as my only income. I feel trapped and sad that this happened and my life has changed so much, and wonder if I could have the chance to legally appeal in any way?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Mels
I'm really sorry to hear about the position you are in. Unfortunately, the law is clear on appeals, and you only have 13 months from the date on your last decision letter to request a late appeal, and you are well out of that time frame. I understand why you couldn't do it at the time, but there is nothing that allows people to appeal later, even when it is for tragic circumstances such as yours.
If you no longer have a PIP award, have you thought about applying for Attendance Allowance? You should be able to get extra help for your disabilities. It focuses on daily care not mobility, but you may well be eligible. www.gov.uk/attendance-allowance.
I know you can't leave the house but if you're able to communicate by phone I would see if there is a specialist welfare advisor in your area and see if there is any additional money you could claim. advicelocal.uk/

I would also strongly advise you to contact Social Services, and see if there's any way your home can be made accessible so you can go outside.
