AR1 form: people who support you. Is it best to put someone rather than none?

Hi, I'm nearing completion of my AR1 form, which has taken me nearly 2 months (!). I have a questin about who we put as people who support us if there isn't anyone.

I have long covid and also can't speak and now quite isolated. There isn't anyone who knows my condition well enough as I only see friends rarely and on a good day. I don't email or tell them about all the things I can't do. A couple of them know about some areas (speech, engaging, mobility) but not all. I've had advice not to list people if they don't know enough to give a representative picture and that seems sound, but might it count against me if I don't put anyone? Do the DWP usually contact people?

The form has been a mammoth effort even with a month's extension and has had an impact on my health. It's due in today or tomorrow at the latest. Thank you in advance for any words of wisdom!

Hi Kate777

Lots of people don't have support, and don't put anyone down on the form. No, it won't count against you. The DWP only occasionally contact medical professionals listed on the form - they certainly don't go chasing friends or family, and nor would you want them to. You cannot be confident that loved ones wouldn't screw things up when faced with the machievellian tactics of the DWP or assessment services.
