LCWRA Cut in UC was created by Kuju2
Hii all,

I am at the end of my tether, so, so frightened! I am in the process of migrating over to UC from ESA support group. I was planning on migrating on 11th April as this seems to be the best date for me. On this video the person explaining says that the 50% cut for new claimants (watch from 4.00 mins) will come into effect straightaway. I was under the impression that this would come into effect in April 2026.

What I would like to know is whether this video is true If so, would I be better off claiming before 6th April when the new tax year starts? I am just about finished tbh, have already been considering plans of how to end it all if things get too tough. In various news articles including one by Money Saving expert, it says that it is from April 2026 that this will come into effect: www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2025/03/benefits-shake-up/

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Kuji2

I know you are frightened, but please do not try to upload videos from other sites. I have deleted it. If you want to know what is going on - please look at the tab at the top of the website which says PIP/UC changes which will be kept up to date. The money saving expert is a great and reliable resource but I would not advise you to be watching random videos from other people. We don't have time to watch videos around the web to confirm what someone might be saying As far as we are aware the changes will not be coming in until April 2026. If there is any change to this - Steve will report on it.
